HISTORY
The Gronowski Center (formerly the Kurt and Barbara Gronowski Clinic) was established in 1988 as realization of the vision of founders Kurt and Barbara Gronowski. As a Holocaust survivor who moved to the United States with little more than a few dollars in his pocket, Mr. Gronowski became a highly successful businessman who was determined to give back to the community that had so generously provided him with opportunities he never could have imagined possible. Having endured his own psychological trauma during the Holocaust, Mr. Gronowski envisioned helping ease the psychological pain of the underserved within this community. Out of this vision and in collaboration with Palo Alto University's clinical faculty, the Kurt and Barbara Gronowski Clinic was born.
Over 25 years after its founding, The Gronowski Center holds true to its original vision of promoting the psychological well-being of our community through providing low-cost, evidence-based psychological services to the underserved. As a part of this vision, The Gronowski Center provides counseling, psychotherapy, and assessment services for adults, children, adolescents, older adults, couples, and families in the Bay Area on a sliding scale fee basis. By providing these services on a sliding scale basis, The Gronowski Center is able to offer high-quality psychological services to community members who would not otherwise have access to these services.
